We Rise reminds us that even though we can’t change what’s happened to us, we can choose who we’ll be & how we’ll show up in the world during challenging times. We Rise to our best, together.
“We will rise, united strong, together we can heal the pain and hate and fear. Because Love stands here.” – We Rise
This song is a celebration of life and my 25th Cancerversary, which I released that day, October 1, 2020! Crazy stuff can happen to us—cancer, pandemics, losing loved ones—but we can still choose to see the beauty that’s all around us.
It’s not about denying that hardships or difficulties exist—it’s about denying their power over us. 🙂
Corcovado is my favorite Bossa Nova song and Antônio Carlos Jobim is my favorite Brazilian composer. I visited Brazil as a part of the World Percussion Project—a group of students from CSU Long Beach and Humboldt State University, led by Dr. Michael Carney.
On our last day in Rio, we visited the famous statue overlooking the city, Corcovado O Rendentor, which translates to “Christ the Redeemer.” It was incredible.
I grew up singing Christmas songs and always loved the beautiful melodies in the traditional carols. This is one of my favorites, and it’s a song that’s been recorded many times by many artist in many versions.
This recording was done very quickly, right before the holidays! An incredible woman I know in South Africa organized a project where musicians contributed a Christmas song to help raise money for a Ugandan orphanage.
I have finally recorded my rock song, Overcomer, after a successful IndieGoGo campaign! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported it and made this possible. Stay tuned for updates!
